Firstly lets look how the results played out:

Norwich (H) 4 - 1 (W)

Southampton (A) 1 - 2 (W)

Arsenal (H) 3 - 1 (W)

Burnley (A) 0 - 3 (W)

4 wins out of 4, the perfect start for the reds and placing them top of the table, top points clear of title rivals Man City going into the international break. Two tricky away games that have faltered Liverpool in the past, new comer (but always been a good fixture for the reds) and a top 6 battle early on, many fans would of been cautious in predicting 4 wins for these early conflicts but 4 wins the reds have. A real statement of intent going into another title race with Pep's relentless squad pushing them at every corner. Now if we look at some reasons why the reds got of to the perfect start.

Importance of Fabinho & Firmino:

The two Brazilians have been our two top performers this season for me so far. If we start with Fabinho, the Brazilian destroyer has got off to a scintillating start to the season, we always say that Kante seems like hes everywhere or there's two of him on the pitch and in my opinion Fabinho has come into that bracket.

few stats so far this season:

Recoveries - 21

duels won - 22

tackles - 13

This shows everything Fabinho is about, breaking up play and recovering the ball for his team, he is a real no nonsense Central defensive midfielder, he wins the ball back and looks to go forward with it. He's great for the transitional play between defence and attack, already off the mark with his assist for Mo Salah against Arsenal and shows he's not just about the defence, his all round game is superb. Furthermore, he has a real intelligence to his game, which is shown by his recoveries, he knows where the balls going to go and where he needs to be and somehow always manages to be in the right place at the right time, he is a phenomenal player, and a certain starter for the foreseeable future. Since about Christmas time last season, Fabinho has been an integral part of this team and for me he had one of his best performances for the reds this season against Arsenal, he completely bossed the midfield and was a crucial part in the reds securing the 3 points against a team gunning for top 4 spot.

Now to Firmino, the Brazilian is the most important player in this team for the system they want to play, he is the perfect number 9 for Klopp's system and he has implemented it superbly over the course of these first 4 games. He has looked extremely sharp after his Copa America triumph, gaining his first assist of the season against Norwich and going on to score against Southampton and Burnley, with an assist at Turf moor as well. However, what cant be put in stats is Firmino's pressing and linkup play with Salah and Mane, he's one of the most complete centre forwards in the league and is a big factor in both of them getting as many goals as they do.

Adrian stepping up:

One of the disappointments so far this season was Alisson getting injured in the League opener for the reds against Norwich, however due to our recruitment of Adrian, a much more adequate backup to Mignolet, the loss of Alisson hasn't seemed so terrible. The Spanish shot stopper has looked shaky when playing out of from the back, he isn't anywhere near as comfortable on the ball as Alisson, but he has made several great saves keeping us in games, an example is when Pepe was through in on goal, Adrian came out quickly, narrowing the gap and forcing the African winger into rushing his shot and shooting straight at the reds keeper. Bar the slip up against Southampton costing us a goal and our clean sheet, he has been more than adequate as a backup for our Brazilian keeper.

Tricky away ties surpassed:

Burnley and Southampton have proved to be bogey teams for the reds in past seasons, but this year it saw the reds show their class and really grind out results, riding their luck, especially in the game against Burnley when our first goal came from a deflected cross from Trent, opening up the game for us to go comfortably win. Southampton wasn't so much about luck as we were beating the saints without getting out of 2nd gear before Adrians blunder causing them to get back into the game and lead to an uneasy finish to game. But overall it is all about getting the results, the 3 points is all that matters and grinding out results is what title challengers do and the reds showed this in abundance in both away games.

Solid win to arsenal:

This game for me was a real statement of intent for the club, following a good start for both clubs to the season, Man City dropping points against Spurs, a win over Arsenal would see us go two points clear of the Manchester side, and this is what came to be. The reds brushed pass the the gunners with ease after Matip opened the scoring in the 41st minute, second half proving to be a clear presentation of the gap between these two clubs. Even though Arsenal did score, 3-1 flattered the gunners, they were comfortably beaten by the reds and showed why they are title contenders for this season.

Trent starting where he left off:

Trent has picked up exactly where he left off from last season, providing 2 assists already and causing an Own goal in the Burnley game with his dangerous crosses. The Arsenal game for me epitomised everything Trent is about this season, providing cross after cross in this game, eventually baring fruit when his corner was headed in by Matip. Also there has been talk of the young red lacking in the defensive capabilities of a full back but in this game he kept Aubameyang very quiet, and shut him out of the game throughout, not bad for a fullback who supposedly struggles to defend against pacey wingers.

Front three all scoring:

This was always going to be key to an healthy start for our season, and they certainly delivered. Mane in particular has really shown his class, scoring against Southampton and Burnley, but he has been a constant menace in all games and really could of had more goals. Salah is the leading scorer of the three, netting a brace against Arsenal in a big win for us and against Norwich in the opener of the season, hasn't been quite as scintillating as Mane in my opinion, however the goals speak for themselves, keeping all 3 of these world class players is crucial in the reds bid for the Premier League title this season.

Matip showing his importance:

Matip has shown over the last year what every young player should be striving for and model themselves on, the determination and hard work to fight for your place and then excel in it our you've been given that one chance that you needed. Ever since the Cameroonian as come in for Gomez, he has looked solid and over the last 4/5 months he has looked like the player every Liverpool fan hoped he could be, next to Van Dijk he looks like a Giant ruling over his dominion and boy is it good to see from an Liverpool's perspective. Ever since Virgil came to Liverpool the question has always been who will partner him, Gomez or Matip, and now I believe we finally have the answer (at least for the mean time). Now even though our defence has looked shaky in the opening four games, I think we can put that down to early season jitters, and easing into the season. This can be backed up by the fact the reds secured there first clean sheet of the season against Burnley, a tricky away day against two handfuls in Barnes & Wood, but our two calm man mountains secured the back and gave us a base onto build from the back. Speaking of building from the back, another underrated aspect of Matip's game is his ability to bringt he ball out from defence, you often see him wonder into space in front of him, sometimes taking on players and moving the ball forward (not always successfully but at least its positive). Matip is a very underrated centre back in the Premier League and in my opinion he is up there for one of the best around at the moment.

Super cup win & Trophies coming:

Lastly, our first trophy of the year, winning on penalties against Chelsea, not the finest way to secure your first trophy of the season but a trophy nonetheless. This is massive for morale and confidence around the squad, everyone feels confident and gets a taste for winning, which could be crucial in the season to come.

Overall there were a lot of factors to the reds good start but it's safe to say they look good for the duration of this season.
